About this Guide

Welcome to the GCC Digital Media Arts Research Guide!  This guide is meant to help users navigate resources for digital media arts.  It is divided into several main parts, which can be found through the left:

 

  • Find Background Information -- This tab is meant to help you identify starting points for research into your topic.  This includes background information resources along with sources.
  • Find Images-- Learn how and when you can use images and find resources for copyright-free images.
  • Find Video -- This tab will provide information to help you find you find either DVDs or streaming video sources on your topic. It also provides tips for finding archival video, along with some resources for archival video.
  • Find Articles -- This tab will provide information to help you find online articles, journals, magazines, and newspapers on your topic and links to specific art/ marketing databases.
  • Find Books -- This tab will provide information on finding topical books available either at the GCC Library, online, or through another MCCCD library.
  • Fair Use-- This section provides a presentation outlining how to determine if you are following the guidelines of Fair Use and also links to the Best Practices for using Fair Use in the industry.
  • Career Resources-- This tab provides information related to Art Careers and resources.
  • Website Evaluation-- This section helps you evaluate web resources for authority, bias, and credibility.
  • Citation Assistance -- This tab will provide information to help you create citations.
