1809 - Edgar Allan Poe was born January 19th, 1809 in Boston, Massachusetts to actor parents.
1811 - Elizabeth Poe, Edgar's mother, dies. His father has since abandoned his wife. This leaves Edgar and his siblings to different foster homes.
1815 - John Allan, Edgar's foster father, moves his family to London, where Edgar enters boarding school.
1820 - John Allan moves his family back to the US, to Richmond, VA. Edgar begins writing poetry.
1827 -Poe moves to Boston, publishes his first collection, and then enlists in the army under the name Edgar A. Perry. He is ordered to South Carolina.
1836 Poe weds Virginia Clemm on May 16.
1837 Poe and family move to New York due to being fired for his "occasional lapses in sobriety."
1838 Poe moves his family to Philadelphia where he publishes The Fall of the House of Usher.
1843 Poe publishes The Tell-Tale Heart and Lenore in The Pioneer.
1844 Poe moves his family to New York.
1845 The Raven is published in Evening Mirror.

1849 Poe has spent the last two years lecturing. He dies on October 7th, 1849. The Bells and Annabel Lee are published posthumously.
