Local News Sources

Google Site Searching

One strategy to finding local information sources, is to site searching with Google.  In essence, site searching allows you to search not the whole of Google but simply those sites, which might have quality information on your local topic.  To do so, you will want to use the following format:

topic site:website.com

you can also search .gov or .edu websites in a similar fashion.  For example:

second topic site:.edu

With this in mind, here are a few site searches that might be helpful.  To use these site searches, simply put your topic (instead of the water topic in there now) in front of the site: with a space in between or topic and site:
