Social Justice Poetry

Guide created to support the often annual Social Justice Poetry event co-sponspored and supported by several GCC student groups.

About this Guide

This guide supports the GCC student organizations that host the occasionally annual Social Justice Poetry Reading event.

For detailed information on the THURSDAY, April 24, 2025 event (5 - 8 pm), see the Amnesty International Social Justice Poetry SlAmnesty Instagram Page.

Join Amnesty International and other student clubs under the trees on the lawn just east of the GCC Student Union for an evening of social justice poetry. Sergio Chapa, author of Frontera A Journey across the US-Mexico Border will discuss his book and journey.

The GCC community is invited to participate in sharing poetry and other creative works that promote social justice.

During the course of the evening, participating GCC student organizations will share expression that reflect or engage with social justice issues of importance to their club. A moderated Open Mic portion of the event invites the GCC community to share poetry and other creative works that promote social justice.

The event is sponsored by the Amnesty International student organization at GCC.

All participating student organizations are invited to have a club table and share information about their club.

See sidebar or use the link below to find related poetry resources.
