Hotspot Lending Program at the GCC Library

Get connected! This guide has all the details students need to know about the hotspot lending program offered by the GCC Library.

Hotspot Availability

At the beginning of each semester, GCC Libraries distributes hotspots by request on a needs- based assessment. After the second week of classes, any remaining hotspots are distributed first come, first serve. We cannot guarantee a hotspot will be available, please stop by the West Circulation desk or call Access Services at (623) 845-3119 to check availability.

How to Borrow a Hotspot - Student Responsibilities

Borrowing a Hotspot

Students may check out one hotspot for one semester at a time. All hotspots check out from the GCC Main Campus Library. Hotspots are available to current GCC students on a needs-based basis. You can fill out the request form to be considered for a unit.

  • IMPORTANT! Students must use the hotspot each week. If you do not need regular access, please return the hotspot to the library for another student to use. Short term checkout options are available at the Glendale Public Library.

  • Renewals are not permitted.

  • The borrower must not loan or rent a GCC hotspot to another person. You are responsible for any loss or damage to the unit and accessories.

  • Once overdue, the hotspot will be disconnected. The borrower will be responsible for any overdue or loss fees.

Returning a Hotspot

Hotspots must be returned to a person at the West Circulation Desk at the GCC Main Campus Library. Do NOT return them in book drops or to the IT Helpdesk.

Students are responsible for returning all accessories to the device, including:

  • Hotspot unit

  • SIM card inside

  • Power cord and plug

  • Battery

  • Instructions

  • Storage Box

Failure to return the complete set may result in student charges for the loss.

Hotspot use is governed by the MCCCD Administrative Regulation 1.11 policy regarding the use of MCCCD property off premises, and the District Technology Resource Standards and Acceptable Use policies As an open, unsecured wireless network, “Hotspots” are freely and easily accessible and are unsecure.
