What is a vinyl cutter?

A vinyl cutter is a computer controlled machine, similar to a printer, that uses a blade to cut out a design onto vinyl or other materials.

The GCC Reimagine MakerSpace has a Silhoutte Cameo 4 available for use. 

Designs can be downloaded (for a fee, though there are many free designs available) or created through the Silhouette Studio online software.

Steps for using the Vinyl Cutter

  1. Submit the Reimagine MakerSpace Safety Rules and Assumption of Risk forms
  2. Complete the vinyl cutter tutorial
  3. Copy or create a design using Silhouette Studio software at home or in the library
  4. Cut or sketch your design on the vinyl cutter
