The GCC Reimagine MakerSpace has materials and tools for use in physically assembling books.  These include:

  • Glue, brushes, and protective glasses
  • Chipboard sheets
  • Sewing arm
  • Needles, thimbles, and waxed thread
  • Presses
  • Hinge and repair tape
  • Punch cradles and awls
  • Linen fabric
  • Bone creasers
  • Binding ribbon
  • Paper cutter
  • Cutting mat
  • Scissors, X-acto knives, and cut resistant gloves
  • Rulers
  • Hammer

Steps to use the bookbinding tools and materials

1. Sign and return a printed copy of the Safety Rules and Assumption of Risk forms

2. Complete the bookbinding tutorials with a passing score

Caution: The process of binding a book requires the use of sharp tools.  A sharps container and a medical kits are both provided.  Please identify the location of each before starting work.
