General Format for Works of Art Artist Last Name, First Name. Title of the Work of Art. Date created, Museum, Museum City (if needed).

 

Figures

For citing works of art or images, in-text:

• label the image with the word "Figure" or "Fig."
• provide a title and/or caption and date
• provide source information and date if appropriate
• usually you do not need to provide a citation in the Works Cited page..

Citing a work of art displayed in a museum

Citing an object in a museum

• If there is only a description of the object, rather than a title, do not italicize.
